CISD College & Career Day of Testing
CISD College & Career Readiness Day of Testing
Every October, CISD students in grades 8-12 have the opportunity to engage in a college & career readiness assessment during the CISD College & Career Day of Testing.
Beginning in the 8th grade, students will take the PSAT 8/9 from the College Board's PSAT suite of assessments. 9th grade students will take the PSAT 8/9 again, honing their reading, writing & math skills by repeated interaction with the suite of assessments. 10th & 11th grade students move on to the PSAT/NMSQT, a college readiness assessment directly aligned to the SAT college entrance exam.
In a student's third year of high school, they have the opportunity to take the PSAT/NMSQT to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship- a highly competitive & prestigious recognition tied to multiple college scholarship opportunities!
Finally, our 12th grade students have the opportunity to take the SAT School Day or the ASVAB career aptitude test. Students choosing to take the SAT School Day sign up with their counselor in order to test during the school day at CHS. Spots for the SAT School Day are limited & the ordering deadline is several weeks before the examination. Please contact your counselor for more information.
Students taking the ASVAB will have the opportunity to measure their skills in areas such as mechanical comprehension & spatial reasoning. When students receive their ASVAB scores, they also receive a booklet of information about career skill strengths based on their results.
