Skyward Scholarships
Skyward Scholarships open in February. Counselors met with seniors in their English classes for guidance on how to complete these applications. PLEASE MAKE SURE ALL OF YOUR PAPERWORK IS TURNED IN VIA EMAIL TO COUNSELING DEPT AT CHSSCHOLARSHIPS@C-ISD.COM
Some scholarships require teacher evaluations. Please email your teachers directly to ask them to fill one out for you. They already have the google document. If the scholarship asks you for a recommendation letter, tax forms, and/or essays, email these items to us at chsscholarship@c-isd.com. Please check your school email frequently because we will be emailing you if additional information or documents are needed for a particular scholarship. Lastly, if you need to physically turn in scholarship materials, you may bring them directly to the CHS counseling center and we can scan the documents.
Scholarship Scams
DON’T GET SCAMMED ON YOUR WAY TO COLLEGE!! 6 SIGNS A SCHOLARSHIP SEARCH MAY BE A SCHOLARSHIP SCAM!!!
No one can guarantee that they’ll get you a grant or scholarship. Refund guarantees often have conditions or strings attached. Get refund policies in writing before you pay.
There are many free lists of scholarships available. Check with the Counseling Center before you decide to pay someone to do the work for you.
Don’t give out your credit card or bank account number on the phone without getting information in writing first. It may be a set up for an unauthorized withdrawal from your account.
Don’t be fooled. There is no way around it. You must apply for scholarships or grants yourself.
Don’t pay anyone who claims to be “holding” a scholarship or grant for you. Free money shouldn’t cost a thing.
Before you send money to apply for a scholarship, check it out. Make sure the foundation program is legitimate.
NEED MONEY FOR COLLEGE? Check with the Counseling Center for free information about current scholarships before you pay someone for the same or similar scholarship lists.
